WHAT IF
What if we all would be rich?
Would some still ask for more?

What if there would be peace on Earth?
Would some still long to fight?
* * *
What if we all would speak the same language?
Would some still not understand?
* * *
What if everything would be allowed?
Would some miss the forbidden?
* * *
What if there would be enough food for everybody?
Would some still be hungry?
* * *
What if everything would be perfect
-and we all couldn’t handle it?
What if all that was artificial was taken away?
Would we know how to survive?
Great post, it reminds me of how 5 year olds question everything – although it is usually ‘why?’ This could be a never-ending poem!

The wisteria has peaked here but not so the azeleas. Heaven anyway.

I often wonder if we would handle a perfect world. And I guess there would never be a world perfect for everyone, as for everyone a perfect world means something different.
I think we can’t handle perfect for to long…what is sad.

Reminds me of a story (stop me if I’ve already told you this one). A man dies and is escorted into a room full of children. They’re running through the room willy-nilly, screaming, laughing, playing. Some are climbing on the furniture, others are coloring on the walls, some are jumping up and down on the bed. One tugs on his trousers the moment he walked in the door, demanding to be picked up. Horrified, he looked at the angel who brought him to the room. “What’s the meaning of this?” he demanded. “Where am I?”
The angel gestured to the room at large. “This,” he said, “is your Hell.”
The man noticed a woman sitting quietly in the corner of the room with a content smile on her face, she appeared to be knitting. “Why is she here?”
The angel beamed at the woman and smiled, “Don’t mind her.” The angel said, “She is in her Heaven.”
My point being that one person’s peace is another person’s madness. On person’s perfection is another’s hell. Or, as Morticia Addams said, “What’s normal to the spider is chaos to the fly.”
So, the answer to your question is, yes, people will still crave “something else” because we don’t all wish for the same thing.
I don’t believe in Heaven or Hell, but liked this story. Yes, you are right. one persons happiness is the other persons madness, at least that’s one way to look at it.
I think we always want more, even more happiness. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. I don’t think humans will every be satisfied with what they have, or what they have achieved.
I don’t believe in heaven nor hell either, being Agnostic and all… but I like that story too. ^_^
The answer to all of those questions is undoubtedly yes (except the last one, of course), but OML what a beautiful picture of wisteria!
It is a very famous wisteria tunnel in Japan. It’s a magical place. This part of the garden is only open in May, when they bloom.
I can’t imagine what that must smell like. I don’t recall ever smelling wisteria. It doesn’t grow well in Utah. Is it wonderful?
It’s a sweet smell. Wisteria is one of the plants you see most in Japan…so beautiful.
I’m too knocked out by the stunning wisteria arcade to wonder what if…!
It’s the wisteria tunnel in the Kawachi Fujien garden in Kitakyushu City, Japan. A must see.
