Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Give a Raw, Emotional Interview to Oprah Winfrey | Vogue

Prince Harry and the actress Meghan Markle sat down with Oprah Winfried for an interview. I expected some accusations and hoped Oprah had done her research. Sadly, she didn’t come prepared.

Where to begin?

May I first say, “Great job for staying out of the limelight Harry and Meghan!” And so the hamper got opened and the dirty royal laundry got washed in public!

  1. Meghan Markle has not researched or googled Prince Harry or the Royal family when they dated?

Yeah, right. Even if I try, I don’t believe it. No way, Jose! You lost me right at the beginning.

2. Poor Archie didn’t get the Prince title!

Meghan assumed their children would be a Prince or a Princess, mentioned Archie didn’t get the title, because his mother is black. Fact is, only children of the monarch and grandchildren of the monarch in the male line (Prince William) are automatically given that title. The Queen’s Grandfather King George V. issued a resolution in 1917, stating that only the royal offspring’s in the immediate vicinity of the throne should have the title Prince and Princess. Just a quick glance at the Royal family photos of the past would have given Meghan a crash course in the Royal hierarchy. Prince Charles and Lady Diana’s children got the Prince title, while his brother Prince Andrew and his sister Princess Anne didn’t.

Facts are facts.

3. Harry said that he was ‘cut off’ from royal funds

He said he felt “trapped” as a royal, didn’t want to ‘work’ as a senior royal member anymore, yet now bemoans the fact that with his action he lost his royal stipend, royal privileges, patronages and honorary military titles. You can’t have it both ways. Do the work, fit in and get paid or leave and don’t get paid. It’s a rather simple principle. It’s how the working world works my dear.

The poor couple might have to find another source of income. The 10 Millions Prince Harry inherited from Princess Diana might just not be enough.

4. Royal Curtsies and Royal Protocol

It is hard to believe Meghan would be oblivious of the fact that one curtsies to the Queen. How can you not know it, and how can you not talk about it with your husband the Prince or the other family members?

4. Meghan suicidal thoughts and tears

Harry’s comment about finding her in tears after Archie’s birth shows just how unique they think they are –most mothers of new babies spend the first year or so adjusting and having a hard time of it, and yes, crying. It’s called postpartum blues/depression. Hormones’ in turmoil. You have to be living under a rock to not know about it.

The interview felt awkward. It felt like watching two spoiled brats complaining about the size of the silver spoon sticking out of their behinds.

At a time where Millions of people are struggling to make ends meet, have lost their jobs and homes, at a time of economic insecurity and unemployment at levels unseen since the Great Depression, many of us simply might not have the time to feel sorry for the ex-royals who feel so mistreated. Their timing and actions speak not only of tone-deafness and self-absorption but also call make me question their judgment.

Racism? Really?

It took me years to understand the family I married into, it took more years to become part of them. I assume my husband deep down is grateful that he never had to meet my Grandmother, the strong woman who raised me.

Prince Harry comes across as very naïve, Meghan Markle comes across as someone who likes to be the center of attention -always.

I hope this interview was a one-time thing and the poor misunderstood and mistreated ex-royals will live a happy and meaningful life quietly.

Meghan said her son Archie had been denied the title of prince because there were concerns within the royal family about “about how dark his skin might be when he’s born. So, lied on both counts. What else did Megan lie about?

Interesting, most posts have been from the other view point. It was good to see the other side of things. For the most part I have many more important things to think about than the royals. I do still think the paparazzi needs to be reigned in some. Even with celebrities in the US, they are too aggressive. It is not our business to know every detail of their days. They are humans too and deserve the right to some privacy like anyone else. Good post!

I don’t doubt that living up to the Royal family’s expectations would be tough, especially for a commoner like Diana and Meghan. I agree that Harry is dealing with the trauma of his mom’s death. I, too, wish they’d just chosen their own path and left the Oprah interview out. Archie is beautiful!!

LOL! I watched the same interview and yet my impressions are entirely different! I wish them all well! Guess we’ll have to see where the royal story goes from here. 🙂

You are sure not alone in your feelings, from what I’ve read. At least we split a little on “the Royals” but I think are completely aligned on American politics! 🙂

    • It took me a week to find time to listen to it. I am not into reality TV Baloney. 🙂

  7. A refreshing view, Bridget. I have no interest in the interview either, but the clips I have seen on our news broadcasts are strongly reminiscent of the interview Princess Diana gave with Martin Bashir. One reason I stopped watching The Crown is that I don’t like biased history views being presented about people who can’t defend themselves.

    • I saw the resemblance between Princess Diana’s interview as well. I have a feeling Prince Harry is to this day not over her death and should have been in therapy for it.

Royals and celebrities’ have a choice to work and not attract the paparazzi or be a paparazzi magnet. Many, like Princess Anne manage well without them and actually work. 🙂

    • Well, the U.S. is “Royal crazy” so I might be the only one with an alternative view. 🙂
