Our oldest dog The Boss, a Labrador-pit bull mix, was barking up a storm outside, what is very unusual.
I walked outside and saw what was bothering him. I got my camera and could take a few good shots. They vultures were bothered by the dog, I could tell.

One took off.

The other one tried to stay a bit longer.

He left too. “Wrong house guys, no easy prey here.”

Quite scaring bugs, aren’t they….
Your dog knows what!
Ugly critters, aren’t they…
I had never seen one that close in real. I am glad our dog barked or I would have missed it.
I imagine in my head that one vulture is asking the other vulture what he wants to do today, like in the Jungle Book (cartoon). Excellent shots. 😀
wow I have never seen a vulture!! What great captures! 😀
Nice pictures! Vultures play their part in the food chain like everything else. Our dogs bark at rabbits and robins, so I don’t always get to see what’s what when they’re barking up a storm. ^_^
Our dogs bark at squirrels, but not like that. The boss was upset, he wanted those birds gone and he made sure they heard him.
Great pictures. I think my dogs would be barking up a storm too!
Vultures are very intimidating, aren’t they? And they have such attitude. I had a run in with one a couple of weeks ago and it really gave me the creeps. I know they are such birds but….
They are a little bit intimidating aren’t they?
I learned that vultures will take small animals as prey when they are hungry.
Yes, you are right. We have big dogs. Two pit bull mixes and a Weimeraner. Those vultures need their eyes checked 🙂
