Wrong house guys

april 2016 019

Our oldest dog The Boss, a Labrador-pit bull mix, was barking up a storm outside, what is very unusual.

I walked outside and saw what was bothering him. I got my camera and could take a few good shots. They vultures were bothered by the dog, I could tell.

One took off.

The other one tried to stay a bit longer.

He left too. “Wrong house guys, no easy prey here.”

    • I had never seen one that close in real. I am glad our dog barked or I would have missed it.

I imagine in my head that one vulture is asking the other vulture what he wants to do today, like in the Jungle Book (cartoon). Excellent shots. 😀

Nice pictures! Vultures play their part in the food chain like everything else. Our dogs bark at rabbits and robins, so I don’t always get to see what’s what when they’re barking up a storm. ^_^

    • Our dogs bark at squirrels, but not like that. The boss was upset, he wanted those birds gone and he made sure they heard him.

Vultures are very intimidating, aren’t they? And they have such attitude. I had a run in with one a couple of weeks ago and it really gave me the creeps. I know they are such birds but….

  8. I learned that vultures will take small animals as prey when they are hungry.

    • Yes, you are right. We have big dogs. Two pit bull mixes and a Weimeraner. Those vultures need their eyes checked 🙂
