She doesn’t get around anymore as she used to; now she depends on strangers who help her with her daily needs.
Most of them are after her money.
“Nothing here has any value,” she heard one say, and it makes her sad.
This piece is so special to her. It shows the milestones of her life, little souvenirs of all the places she had seen, displayed on an old shelf.

Friday Fictioneers are held by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. It’s a great challenge to make every word count. A 100-word photo challenge is joined by many real talented writers and reading their fictional stories is as much fun as writing.

I hope the dear soul doesn’t pass away before finding that special one who sees value in the same things she does 🙂
Yes, I loved the story and agree it would have been great in her own voice…
I think the one appreciate her collection might be lukewarm towards the real treasure
Dear Bridget,
Clever old lady that. I hope there’s someone special she’s leaving this treasure to. Well imagined and nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Didn’t see that twist coming! Loved it <3
A lovely story. I hope someone appreciates her things.
I hope so too.
I like her, smart cookie.
Thank you!
Loved the little twist there. So fun. A great story, Briget.
Nice idea. I wondered who was speaking to me. Did you think about putting the story in her voice? The narrator kind of distances us from it
No, I didn’t think about it. I will next week. I am still in the experimental phase.
Ha, love the ending, well done.
The suspense! What’s in the safe? What’s in the safe? What’s in the safe?
