Loving Relationships

confused man on cellphone

A group of older, married women met at a seminar on How to live in a loving relationship with their husbands. The women were asked, “How many of you love your husband?”

All the women raised their hands.

Then they were asked, “When was the last time you told your husband you loved him?”

Some women answered today, a few yesterday, and some couldn’t remember.

The women were then told to take out their cell phones and text their husband:

“I love you, Sweetheart!”

Next, the women were instructed to exchange phones with one another and read aloud the text message they received in response to their message:

1. Who the hell is this?

2. Eh, mother of my children, are you sick or what?

3. Yeah, and I love you too. What’s wrong?

4. What now? Did you wreck the car again?

5. Are you alright?

6. What the hell did you do now?

7. Don’t beat around the bush, just tell me how much you spent?

8. Am I dreaming?

9. If you don’t tell me who this message is actually for, someone will die.

10. I thought we agreed you wouldn’t drink during the day.

11. Your mother is coming to stay with us, isn’t she?

If you have been married for a while, you understand that these replies are a sign of true love. Who else would reply in such a succinct and honest way?

About four years ago my husband texted me out of the blue and sent me a similar message. I replied, “Who is this. My husband doesn’t text,” and it cracked him up.

I had to share this because it’s so real.

  1. I’m laughing – reply? my husband wouldn’t get around to reading it for a week and then he’d show it to me and ask how it got there.

lol I love #9! I’m one of the lucky ones that regularly texts love notes back & forth with her hubby. We met online and married the first day we met in person. That was 18 years ago and he’s now 72 – but never too old for romance! Nice to meet you – I’m glad I found your blog!

I know it’s a joke, and I get the joke, but mine just says, “I love you too.” But he’s weird like that. ^_^

    • I text with customers but not with my husband or good friends and I know many couples who do the same. Your answer makes me think you text with your husband all the time. 🙂

I hardly text at all, but when I do, he’s one of the few I text to. 🙂

I laughed out loud when I got to #10 🙂
The responses say a lot about the dynamics of a long-time married couple. I’m pretty sure Gilles’ response would be somewhere along the line of #6 or #7.
I’ll have to give it a try and find out for sure 🙂

    • I got a kick out of #10 as well. As for my husband, he would go with #7.

HAHAHAH!!! I LOVE it. And those replies are right on target (at least from the long married couples I know IRL). My own husband was of the “If you don’t tell me who this text is for, people will die” school of thought. Come to think of it though HE didn’t text in the first place either..
