“How about we stop and get us an ice cream sundae?” I asked my five-year-old friend.
“What day is today?” he wanted to know.
“Today is Wednesday,” I informed him.
“Can we get a SUNDAY on Wednesday?” and he looked really doubtful when he said it.
I almost hit the trashcan when we parked, I was trying to hold back laughter so hard.
Kids take everything so literally. I remember asking my mom one time if diarrhea meant your rear was dying since that’s how it felt!

He’s smarter than all of us! When I was a kid my family only had ice cream on Sunday. I just google history of the word ‘sundae’ …… Hah! “ICE CREAM SUNDAE – In 1881, George Hallauer asked Edward C. Berner, the owner of a soda fountain at 1404 – 15th Street, to top a dish of ice cream with chocolate sauce, hitherto used only for ice cream sodas. The concoction cost a nickel and soon became very popular, but was sold only on Sundays.”
