A New Companion

Sometimes, when I at least expect it, I come along a story that makes my heart overflow with joy. It’s never one of the loud headline-bait stories, it’s always a quiet story, one that hardly will make it to the front section of any newspaper -even though that’s where it should be.

Our everyday heroes, big or small, don’t get too much recognition in a time, where there is so much noise coming from all directions.

An older lady, who had recently lost her husband and her dog, had decided it was time for a new companion and she knew exactly where to look for one.

She stopped at the local animal shelter and asked for the ugliest, oldest dog they had and so they met.

Jake, a 12-year-old dog, had lived at the shelter longer than the other dogs. In addition to badly scarred skin and a mouthful of crooked teeth, Jake is faced with an untreatable, terminal cancer and that lucky dog just found a new home.

While I believe there is no ugly dog or ugly cat, I have to admit there are some funny looking ones, and I am so glad one of them found a good home.

I wanted to share this since a while, but somehow Trump got in my way. Well, Jake trumped today and many others will follow.

Love trumps hate!

This is truly a happy story and what an incredible lady. I’m sure she and Jake will spend many good days together. Hooray for the underdog! I’m reblogging to Fauna Park Tales. I’m sure many readers will love this uplifting story.
