Last week I met an older lady and her senior Wiener dog. She had brought the dog with her, “He doesn’t like waiting in the car,” she informed me and I told her it was fine with me. Our dogs were sleeping somewhere in the house.
“What’s his name,” I asked her and started padding the dog.
“Martini.”
“Nice to meet you, Martini,” I introduced myself and continued padding him.
I had another Wiener dog before him, his name was “Cosmopolitan.”
“Unusual names for dogs,” I commented.
“Unusual dogs, they are Cocktail Wieners,” she informed me and I lost it.
True story, happened last week. For everybody outside the U.S. who might not know “Cocktail Wieners” please scroll down.

Cocktail Wieners- are not any single type of sausage, but instead are sausages that are made in a specific size. In general, they are small enough to be eaten in only one or two bites, making them popular as an appetizer and giving them their name. The sausages can be served on a plate or skewered with toothpicks, and they may be wrapped in dough or bacon and baked. A classic way to served cocktail sausages is to cook them in a sauce, usually one that plays on sweet and savory or sweet and spicy elements. These sausages are intended to be eaten sparingly, so both the sausages and the sauces used to have a reputation as being decadent and sometimes very high in calories.

My dog’s name is Valkiria. One of my cats is called Tortellino, which is a kind of italian pasta and this is funny 😂😂😂
You can never go wrong with Toretellino 🙂
Cocktail wieners! That’s wonderful! I had a wiener dog, Greta, when I was a child. My grandmother had two, Tina and Midge. Midge was the perfect cocktail wiener! 🙂
Nope, you need a cocktail name to be a cocktail wiener. I insist 🙂
🙂
Totally love it!
I’ve never been able to eat those sparingly!
Haha…so true!
