About Complementing Each Other

The African Rhythm, the women
who could not be more different
yet they lift each other up,
they complement each other.

Black and white,
small and tall,
thin and rounded,
feeding of each other.

All smiles, moving,
there is no room for jealousy,
no egos, they both shine and
I smile while watching.

I remember a time
when I wanted to dance,
and was grounded to sit on the bench,
I didn’t fit in the group anymore.

I was too tall, had grown too quickly
one girl wasn’t nice
hurt my feelings,
I ran back to the classroom.

Others found me,
“Come on,” they said
“We cut off your feet,” one joked
I laughed.

“It’s all of us or none,”
and so we danced
in formation
like Saturday Night Fever

We won
I won
The girl lost
May this clip reach many.

    • It makes me smile. Both of the women do an incredible job and their smile is as contagious as the melody.
