A quick cut.
Pink flesh showing
liquids flowing.
He hasn’t noticed it yet.
I have to be fast.
In silence
I need to get it all done
before he wakes up.
There is a smell,
it’s traveling fast
through the house.
I freeze in motion
then I hear noises.
He is running,
coming closer,
he is behind me.
I turn around,
and he grins,
teeth showing,
eyes full of excitement.
It’s watermelon time
How could a dog resist?

We never had a watermelon-dog before. It’s so wonderful too watch. Our Vader is very entertaining.

I wrote itself. I really have to sneak to the fridge to get some watermelon because if Vader smells it, or hears it, he gets so excited.
I sew in my workroom in the house, but have the ‘big’ workroom set up in our former detached garage, in the back of our yard. I can’t make it through the yard without him bouncing full of joy when he smells his favorite treat. I need to film him.
Our other dog doesn’t understand it at all. She tried a few pieces and thought it was gross.
