…
What does the world look like to you?
Is it big, is it small and do you feel big or little?
Are you sometimes afraid?
Does it sometimes hurt you, this small or big world?
Do you have enemies or only friends?
Does anything hurt you at all?
Are you happy?
Do you feel safe?
Little hedgehog, do you sometimes imagine you don’t have any spikes?
Little hedgehog, I’ll tell you something …
Sometimes I imagine I have your spikes, because…
the world sometimes feels really big, a little too big, for me
Sometimes it feels small, tight, and too narrow, for me
It often really scares me, this world
There are so many enemies out there that you don’t see at all
There are just as many friends out there that you often don’t notice
Living in this world often really hurts and you don’t know why
Little Hedgehog, I sometimes imagine you didn’t need spikes, because…
the world would have no borders, there was no too big or too small or too wide or too narrow, it would be all endless
There would be nothing to be afraid of
No enemies and invisible friends
And nobody would feel hurt
I imagine the world could be like that, for you.
Little hedgehog, every now and then, I’d like to be you.

A fine analogy
I often wonder what our dogs are thinking. How do they look at our world and all our problems?
very nice👍
Thank you so much.
Beautifully said. We all sometimes wish for a world without borders or fears.
“Without fears” what a wonderful world it could be.
Just for a nano-second it would be interesting to inhabit its brain . . . do hope the fears of everything visible are not frightening . . .
Only a nano-second? I would like to spend a day in the mind of our dogs. I have a feeling it could be surprising.
*laughing* Yes, well, I should not discriminate, but – as far as dogs go, I fully agree with you!
Wow… what a world that hedgehog could have. I wish we could all have a world like that, but I definitely do not see it happening any time soon. Great writing, Bridget!
So beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you 🙏🏻
My eyes are little oceans too 🙂
Their big, big advantage is that they do not get bombarded with news and social media!
My life got pretty quiet as well. 15 minutes BBC America News, 15 minutes reading the news, no social media other than WordPress. No newsfeed on my phone. So far so good. I live a hedgehog life 🙂
Good! Just don’t get prickly!
It’s just a form of self defense, the news here in the US are Trump-News and sadly very manipulated.
Cute
Thank you, Sheree.
I just love hedgehogs,Bridget, which we always have in our garden!
I love them as well. They are just too cute and so important.
So lovely Bridget. Thank you. 💕
Thank you Victoria.
