Next time when you’re feeling important,
And your ego is in full bloom,
When you take too much for granted,
and believe you’re the best qualified in the room.
When you feel that you’re absence,
Would leave an unfilled hole.
Just follow these simple instructions,
And see how they humble your soul.
Take a bucket and fill it with water,
Put your hand in it up to the wrist,
Pull it out and the hole that’s remaining,
shows how much you’ll be missed.
You can splash all you wish when you enter,
You may stir up the water quite a bit,
But stop, and you’ll find that in no time,
It looks quite the same as before.
The moral of this quaint example,
It is to do just the best that you can,
Be proud of yourself, but remember,
There’s no indispensable man (or woman).

This is an amazing poem, Bridget! So true.
Most profound
Makes you have a quick think, then a nod and a smile 🙂 !
I had not read that one before, but so true, the perfect illustration.
