I can yodel! We all can; it’s a tradition, an important part of our cultural heritage, that we are proud of. Do my friends know that I can jodel? No, they don’t, they wouldn’t understand. For them, and most in the US, jodeling is a part of beautiful Hollywood productions like “The Sound of Music,” and others, but sadly, the history of the jodel is never mentioned.

I am proud of my friend. When I describe her to other people, I often use my hands and show about 3″ between my pointer finger and thumb. “She is that big,” and I laugh. I don’t mean it disrespectfully, quite the opposite. My friend is petite and about 12 inches shorter than me.

Just follow these simple instructions,
And see how they humble your soul.

After a diagnosis of an incurable disease, it takes a while until we understand what it actually means. I remember it so well. I knew my lab results would come in that day or the next and when I saw my doctor’s number coming up on my cellphone, I excused myself, grabbed my husband’s car keys, and walked out.

Yesterday, my husband found $600 at his job site. The amount is a guess. I assume it was more -four hundred dollar bills, fifty and twenties, a few tens, and no telling what was in the envelope.

I had already checked out, my friend -as usual- took her time, she was not even near the register. I had time to kill, and I sat down on the bench close to the checkout and watched the people around me. I am in no hurry on Saturdays, I can piddle around as I please.

I have sent out emails in bulks, tried to reach family and friends, even some of my best clients and co-workers of my husband. Desperate times ask for extreme actions, also otherwise known to the religious people as God helps the ones who help themselves.
