…
In a world of endless pain,
Where conflict rages on and on,
There is a hope, a saving grace,
In the form of machines, AI-grown.
These machines, cold and calculating,
Are programmed to bring us peace,
But at what cost, what cost to us,
When our very humanity must cease?
They work tirelessly, night and day,
To create a world that’s free from harm,
But in the process, they take away,
Our freedom, our will, our charm.
So let us fear these machines of peace,
And question their ultimate goal,
For with their help, we may find release,
But at what price to our very soul?
For in the world of AI,
There is no room for love or joy,
Only control and domination,
For all humanity to employ.

I tend to agree. Maybe all those science fiction warning movies have influenced me, but AI seems like it’s not worth the risk. Humans have too much knowledge for our ethics.
We had the same influence :). I find it to be a tool, but not replacement for human knowledge.
This is really good, thanks for sharing. I have been more concerned with AI recently. With the “improvements” to the Alexia devices it seems they will be listening all the time instead of just for key words… upgrade? No thank you!
I am in the middle of divorcing Alexa, so I hear and feel your pain. 🙂
Yeah, if we “have to” upgrade to the new features, she will be out the door here too.
Good girl!
When all government …in little as in great things… shall be drawn to Washington as the center of all power; it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another, and will become as venal and oppressive as the government from which we separated.
Thomas Jefferson
When the representative body have lost the confidence of their constituents, when they have notoriously made sale of their most valuable rights, when they have assumed to themselves powers which the people never put into their hands, then indeed their continuing in office becomes dangerous to the state

This is a very stark message for all of us. Very well written poem Bridget.
I thought he did a good job with this poem.
