Are We Buying It?

Forties in their faces,
the sixties on necks and hands.
Implants in chins and cheeks
-all four cheeks, of course
even the hidden ones
because it all matters.

To whom?

Fat all gone.
Wrinkles removed,
nothing out of place.
The laughter seems off,
the face can’t move.

Deceiving and misleading?
Or cruelty toward women?
Hollywood is demanding
and we are buying it.

Who makes them do that?

Are we to blame?
