To me, it looks like Luna is smiling. My husband says it’s because she is lying on her back.
Some dogs are backsleepers. Just like humans, animals have preferences. Showing her belly, her vulnerable side, is also a sign of trust. She knows we won’t hurt her.
Do you remember Baby Luna? This picture was taken on the 5th of July this year, two days after we rescued her. A five-week-old malnourished puppy with a big belly full of worms and parasites.
Back then, she just looked at us. Curious, trusting, perhaps a bit overwhelmed. She was trying to take it all in.
The smile came later.
Luna is happy. If my husband can’t see it, well, too bad for him.
