I listened to the news
and felt hope again.
Young faces on TV,
women and men.
Diversity, optimism.
Open hearts and minds.
Like a pressure cooker,
I felt tension leaving my body.
A 58-year-old woman
shared she voted yesterday
for the first time.
“Thank you,” I whispered,
tears rolling down my cheeks.
She can’t hear me,
but she gave me hope again.
I needed it so badly.
This anger, the hatred,
the open corruption,
the bigotry, the arrogance
the name-calling,
the violence.
It had gotten to me.
I want my America back.

Well said, Bridget

It’s going to take a lot of work and patience and tenacity to get our country back. I don’t know if it will happen in my lifetime…but there is hope now. Hope.
There is a long and difficult road ahead of us. I don’t think we ever will regain what has been lost. When trust is gone, it rarely returns.
It’s a good day. Everywhere. May hope be the stabilizer. Be well.
It’s a start and I hope now for a much better future for us and the world.
Amen to that. Entitlement, turpitude, and corruption have to stop because enough is enough. Again, Amen.
