Italienischer Reis - Melonen - Salat

Cooking tasteful, heart-healthy meals containing less sodium has been quite a challenge. My husband, who now after his bypass surgery is considered a heart patient for life, has not been very helpful. The times of juicy burgers and fried foods are over. Sodium loaded soups, chili’s, stews, and gravies have been banned from my kitchen.

“You are going to England for the summer,” my Grandma told me and she would spend my favorite time of the year with two children from Italy. She had been given a pamphlet of EF a student summer exchange program -which is still existing to this day. She had liked the idea, because she had signed up for it months before I knew about it.

Like every year, our little tree is getting ready for winter. The leaves just started to wilt and soon they will fall to the ground. What will be left will be a bare tree, waiting for the wintertime.

It was my first summer in many years without neighbor kids in my workshop. Bravely, I had decided teens and teenagers are the parent’s problem -not mine- and I have closed my free vacation daycare, until further notice.

Yippie…all the neighbor kids are back in school. I have my workroom back and I returned to my normal routine -I hear silence and love it.

The kids and I made it through the summer torturing each other. They forced me to watch The Gilmore Girls, and I made them listen to books that I thought they needed to know. To Kill a Mockingbird was one of them and they loved it.

If you come across a Mosquito in the size of a helicopter, please, be so nice and kill it. It has been in our house and bit me about 250 times in under five minutes. It deserves the death penalty -no questions asked.
