His eyes were sparkling when he showed me his bargain.
“Only one is ours and it doesn’t drive -it needs some work,” my husband explained to me cheerfully while I almost had a heart attack.
“It’s old and not drivable?” I managed to ask in absolute disbelieve.
“Don’t worry, I will fix it up in no time,” and he started to make plans right away.
An old vehicle to work on, that had been his dream for as long as I can remember.
There is a little boy in every man and that’s alright, just never send them shopping unsupervised.
(Word count: 100)
Friday Fictioneers is held by my blogging friend Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. The goal of the 100-word photo challenge is to make every word count and it’s stunning to see what we all can write and tell with just 100 words.

Funny story, Bridget. I guess she’s learned a valuable lesson here. She needs to accompany her husband on those shopping excursions. Good writing. 😀 — Suzanne
Truer words were never spoken. Delightful!
Thank you
True words. So very true 🙂
There are two classic motorbikes in pieces in our garage that bear testament to what you’ve said. Nicely done.
“Two motorbikes in pieces,” too funny.
Love this! That last line is great. 🙂
I admit to being married to a shopper, too. Whoever said women were the more impulsive gender was out of their gourd.
You are right. I hate shopping, my husband loves it. I know quite a few men who could shop till they drop 🙂
Yes, we like our toys. Although, I’m not crazy about buying things that need repair. Connie does enough of that for me. Then she says “we” can fix it up. Translated, that means here’s something for you to work on.
You know, we have that “we” as well and it always means me. Not really sure how it works, but it some kind of magical transition.
Ha, great last line! Who knows what trouble I could get into if left alone in a techie shop? 🙂
Home Improvement stores. Goodness, don’t get me started. Wives should be allowed to put a leash on their husbands at times 🙂
Rochelle stole my line… like the song says: “only difference ‘tween the men and the boys is the size of their boots and the price of their toys!”
That’s wisdom 🙂
Love this Bridget
…because you know 🙂
Hahahaha! Oh my gosh, mine is like that with Drones! Great take on the prompt
Really LIKE this! Some men are more dedicated when it comes to “I will soon”.
I am glad you liked it.
I had to smile at that ending
Because you know 🙂
Yup
Busted!
Dear Bridget,
The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys.
One little nitpick…I will fix it up in ‘now’ time…I think you might mean ‘no.’
As a woman who’s been married to the same ‘boy’ for 45 years, your story resonates with me. Not to mention, my husband likes to shop. It’s like shopping with a little boy. Oh the things that find their way in to our card. 😉 Good one.
Shalom,
Rochelle
I was at a “Paint and Wine” event last night, I don’t have it all together today. Yes I meant “no time” not “now time.”
We will be married 33 years this year and my husband loves to shop. Even after so many years I still have a hard time resisting those little boys eyes.
Your comment made me smile. It’s good to know I am not the only one.
Excellent consideration!
This made me giggle. How cute and so true! Great story.
Thanks. Oh, the shopping stories I could tell lol
Ha, what a thing to come back with from going shopping! Still, it’ll keep him happy. Nice story.
It’s fiction, it’s based on a true event. My husband came home with an old Impala 20 years ago. That thing was forever in our garage and it didn’t drive for years. But…he had so much fun working on it.
My brother-in-law had an old Audi for years sitting in his garage – I never saw it on the road, but he was always working on it!
Yep that’s how they do it 🙂 🙂
