The French citizens have spoken, and they have spoken loud and clear. They sent a message to the right-wing nationalists and stomped them into the ground -where they belong.
France, the country that gave us the Statue of Liberty so many years ago, has shown us -and the rest of world- how liberty and freedom look like. The French citizens were not blinded by demagoguery and fear, they did not fall for hatred. France cast a vote for a future with the European Union.
After Austria and Holland, now France stood up and defended democracy as well. The world has not gone completely mad, only parts of it.
I wish President Macron well. He certainly has a hard job ahead of him.
O Liberty, can man resign thee
Once having felt thy generous flame?
Can dungeons, bolts or bars confine thee
Or whips thy noble spirit tame? (repeat)
Too long the world has wept, bewailing
That falsehood’s dagger tyrants wield,
But freedom is our sword and shield,
And all their arts are unavailing.
To arms, to arms, ye brave!…”

He has a mighty task. If the wishes from across the world, as well as in France, can help, he will succeed.
I was happy and more than a little relieved when I heard the news. There is hope, but I agree that he has a tough job ahead of him.
Thank goodness for common sense.. xxx <3
Hope for the better….!
Vive Le France!
I cheered and I know you did too.
I know. We were so happy to hear the news. There is still sanity and hope in the world! Maybe we can get there too someday. 🙂
In 2018 we will join them because anything else just doesn’t make sense.
I hope so!
