I mentioned all the issues I had run into, explained to her how I had fixed it. She looked at the finished old piece, and I could see how much she liked it.
“By the way, the chair was built March 1966,” I said and she looked at me with admiration.
“That’s amazing, how do you know,” she wanted to know.
“I sniff the wood and then I know,” I heard myself say before I could hold it back.
“Wow, I never heard that. That’s impressive.” (May the force be with me!)
“I was joking. I apologize! The manufacturer’s label was attached to the frame, that’s how I know,” I explained and quietly cursed my sense of humor. (Again.)
She looked disappointed!
“I liked it better when you sniffed the wood,” she said and we both laughed.

Haha… Like Old Wine.. lol….. Glad it wasn’t corked.. 🙂 And 1966 was a good year!…. This brought a smile..
And the finished result WOW… what a beautiful transformation.. Well done.. And I bet she was delighted.. <3
She was thrilled and so was I.
🙂 and so you should be.. <3
Doesn’t everyone sniff the wood? 😉
I liked the sniffing version better too 😆
I would have said that same thing… “I liked it better…” But I understand you wanting to be professional. 🙂 The chair is lovely by the way.
Once again I am amazed by your talents. You bring these pieces back to life. Love your line about sniffing the wood ☺
hahaha
Hahaha! Now I’ll be tempted to sniff! And that chair is beautiful
