How can we judge something most of us are fortunate enough to never have to live through?
Poverty is real and right around the corner for many of us. I know, because I have lived it and I think now might be the perfect time to finally write about it.
How does it feel to have not much?
How does it feel to be scared to be on the streets?
Many will lose everything during the COVID-19 pandemic and the laws and regulations put in place to temporary help, will ultimately not safe them. Evictions will happen, so will foreclosures.
Too many have lost their jobs, too many have no savings to dip into.
Once we had it all. Big house, big car, savings account, credit cards and then from one day to the next all was gone.
Listen to the woman. Her fight is real. Her words need to be heard by all, because poverty doesn’t care about a side, gender, sexual orientation or color of the skin.
Poverty is real!
Poverty can happen!

This was really moving. It’s a shame that we listen to it and probably not the people that could actually do something about it.
You are so right, the ones that should listen to it, never will. 🙁
Maybe I’m not right. Maybe many people are like drops of water but together they are an ocean. There has to be hope in this world. Maybe us small people can make small impacts, too. Little seeds planted now can might make all the difference in the future?!?
I want to believe that one person can make a difference, even though it might only be a small difference. 🙂
What a very powerful statement. I wonder how many were listening, I wonder how many will remember it the day after, and the day after that, and I wonder if they will do anything to alleviate the suffering of so many.
I wish I could ‘make’ everybody listen. It’s a subject that is dear to me.
