…
I’m Cry, beloved country,
For what we fear will come.
A bleak, uncertain future
Leaves us feeling numb.
Weep about the darkness
That’s crept into our day
As fear and hate extinguish
The torch that guides our way.
Mourn the loss of judgment
At dark times such as this.
For far too many people,
Ignorance is bliss.
Grieve the loss of hope
That many of us had known.
Despair has now replaced it,
And hearts have turned to stone.
Lament the death of knowledge
That always has been needed
To help ensure that lessons
Of history are heeded.
Bewail the sad misfortune
That empathy’s now gone,
While those who deeply suffer
Are treated with a yawn.
Cry, beloved country.
Was ALL of this our fate?
Can we turn the tide,
Or might it be too late?

Day by day hope is getting harder to find… I still can’t believe how many people are blind to the truth.
I am glad the world is finally speaking up for Gaza. I am in complete awe and shock on what we have become and how much cruelty we allow to happen.
I hope it becomes a place of calm and peace soon.
Such a reason to cry
Yes, I think many of us feel that way.
Totally illogically I keep on saying to myself that this is just a bad dream, a Grimm’s fairytale which ends, and one turns the page, and closes the book and gets on with normal life, except . . .
I feel that way every day when I turn on the news. “This can’t be, I will wake up soon.”
But as for me and my family,
We will have Hope.
We will have Joy.
We will have Love.
We will continue to care
Continue to stand up for what is right
Continue to be the voice of the voiceless.
We will provide comfort,
We will provide aid,
We will provide shelter from the storms ahead.
We will not hide our faces
though we work behind the scenes
We will bring the best of what we are as citizens of this country together.
Darkness is the absence of Light, and even a spark can make the darkness flee.
If only one star remains in the heavens, we will have light.
Let us all fight the darkness with our light!
I love this. Thank you so much for sharing. Did you write it?
I fear for your country, I fear for the world!
many of feel this way.
Written 2 days after the election. At 6 months after it is as bad or worse than we feared it would be.
It is worse than I ever imagined. Not in my wildest (bad) dream did I think this could happen, yet it has and it’s just the beginning. I don’t think we will have mid-term elections and I hope I am wrong.
I hope you are wrong too. That would be beyond imagination for me.
I want it to not come true.
It is horrid. Tragic is saying it lightly.
