…
To live in fear of my society,
not knowing who could harm me
of course, not intentionally,
but because of the recklessness
of politicians who make decisions
and let me pay the price.
That’s my fear for the future
Am I the price? The victim?
Or just collateral damage?
Not just me, but many others.
We are the ones who will be thrown
under the bus but not on purpose
but for the greater good.
Reckless on purpose?
Maybe just a political stunt
meant to convince us that they mean well,
while in reality, they just don’t care.
I give you a choice! They have one, I don’t.
The people around me are my herd
if they put me at risk, I will go down
For the greater good? Whose?
When my herd is sick, I will be sicker.
When my herd is weak, I will be weaker.
When my herd is reckless, I pay the price.
Recklessness! What a terrible word.
Actions have consequences, but for others
I am part of the others.
The elderly and the newborns,
the ones who fight battles they didn’t choose,
the ones who sometimes look healthy, but aren’t.
I am tired of this recklessness.
Playing with our health and well-being
Putting us all at risk for what?
Confusion! Political Games! Power moves!
For the ego of some who should know better.
Playing with my future,
risking our health.
We are only as strong
as the weakest link.
It’s me! I am the weakest link.
We are many!
Vaccines can save lives; an unvaccinated society will put me at risk. I am as healthy as my herd. If my herd doesn’t take care of me, I am fair game for any predator in the air. A touch, a sneeze, a cough from a healthy person can bring someone else to their knees. It could be me!
Vaccines keep our kids healthy. If people around me will carry the measles, Polio, COVID, Pneumonia, Whooping Cough, to name just a few. I will get it times 10, so will the one beside me, who is battling cancer, or perhaps someone who just had surgery or a tooth pulled.
I am sick and tired of reckless politicians. You remove red food colors and make it a publicity stunt, then you change the laws that gave us clean water and fresh air, and you don’t mention it?
How dumb do you think we are? Not dumb enough, at least not all of us!
My goodness, am I sick and tired!

We are all just collateral damage… lives at disposal for “the greater good.” Who determines it is good? A man with no medical knowledge who had worms in his brain. There is something new every day.
Thankfully, those of us in the higher risk group still qualify for the latest covid shots. It is the kids who will pay the ultimate price with states no longer requiring vaccinees to enroll in school. Dissolving the hopes of them growing up to provide a better future for us all.
I find this so reckless, so dumb, so dangerous. It puzzles me what we have become. I don’t get it, or the life of me, I don’t get it.
So very powerfully stated
Thank you, Derrick.
I see you now have a Department of War. I despair!
It’s such a waste of money, renaming “The Pentagon” to “Department of War” will cost at least 10 Million if not more. All the ID’s, cards, passes, letterheads, building signages, equipment and so much more.
And it is bound to increase hostility towards America from the Russia/China/N Korea group.
I don’t know if you saw the meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy in the Oval Office. They were talking about elections and there was one question that I found to be very interesting. Trump asked and I quote, “There are no elections during war? Well. I am still allowed to think right?
Yes, I saw it!
Generations of work to make our country safer has been tossed in the bin. In all areas, including health and road safety. Just to make some people more wealthy. Just to let businesses get what they want, which is more profit. Just on the whim of a few crazy people.
As you know, I have an autoimmune disorder and this effects me brutally and not just me, anybody who is immunocompromised. I believe in science. I grew up at a time when polio was an issue and we were grateful that kids could be vaccinated. This so much BS, it will cost some dearly. I hope I am not one of them.
