One day a poor soul somewhere in a call center far, far away will record a conversation with me and the next day, a video clip will be made public and people all over the world will listen to me, in one of my darkest moments.
They are out to get me, it’s obvious.
The other day I called the 1-800-number for a clothing store. After entertaining the robot voice by pressing various numbers in sequences -as ordered- I finally had a human being on the line.
Call Center Employee: “Thank you, for calling 1-800-Cheap-Ass-Clothes-with-cheap shipping. How can I help you!”
Good Mood-Me: “Hi there, I would like to return an item but can’t print the shipping label.”
Call Center Employee: “I am sorry to hear that. Thank you so much for being a valued customer.”
Smart Ass-Me interrupts: “I am sorry too and I am not.”
Call Center Employee: (Not the sharpest cheese on the cracker) “I don’t understand?”
Smart Ass-Me: “I am not a valued customer and don’t want to be.”
Call Center Employee: “I see. Sorry to hear that. This call will be recorded for training purposes.”
Smart Ass-Me: “I am recording this call as well.”(Of course, I won’t. I just say it to annoy them right back.)
Call Center Employee: “Then I can’t talk to you. I am not allowed to talk to customers if they record our conversation. Good-bye.”
CLICK…and hangs up on me.

Wow! Now THAT is something that surprises me, although it really shouldn’t! I think to mess with the system next time, if there is one, don’t tell them you’ve recorded it until you are just about to hang up! That’ll make someone nervous. 🙂
