Mayla! What Do You Feel?

Mayla!

How does the song and the video make you feel?

Lyrics:
Mayla long time
Mayla the sunshine
Mayla, know I’m
Tryin’ to see it through
Our future to the new horizon

Mayla long time
May the sunshine
Hold on we’re trying
Our hands our bleeding through
We’re building us a new horizon

Mayla long time
Mayla the sunshine
Mayla we’re trying
Our hands our bleeding through
Our death says that we’re due, and falling

And all I have to do to rise
Is look into your eyes

Mayla long time
Mayla, sunshine
Mayla, know I’m
Tryin’ to see it through
Our future to the new horizon

You get the warm fuzzies from a deep enduring love, but sadness over the reality of homelessness growing in an aging society, the staggering amount of good things people throw away instead of donating. But the dancing at the end made me smile… you can do much with (dare I say it again) love. Thanks for sharing this!

  2. Mixed emotions here. The love and commitment that the couple enjoy, versus the inequality and inequity of society. However the love and commitment win out in the end because that is such a powerful combination. Are you sure you didn’t write this song Bridget? 🤗💛

    • I love the band and that one left me with mixed emotions as well. Of course it spoke to me and I wondered if it’s just because of “Losing it All?” But I think it’s a statement about love. People fall in love in warzones, during turmoil. “For rich, for poorer.”
      🙂

  4. I felt initial sadness slowly developing into the warmth of this tribute to lasting love in adversity. And of course I can see why it appeals to you

    • That’s how I felt too. It made me think about my husband, who always tries to make me smile and laugh.

To begin … the lyrics & the video aren’t simply words & characters in a 5 minute mini-movie. They are an EXPERIENCE.

The lyrics read before watching the video made me feel relaxed & comfortable at first, then sad, then hopeful. The best in all of us is our humanity & how we face adversity.

The video made me start crying almost immediately. The old many reminded me of my husband … in good times & in bad, he ALWAYS tries to make me laugh … or at least smile.

As the video progressed you realize it is a love story about two peo[le who have nothing. BUT in the end you realize they have everything because they have each other. (and I cried some more … LOL)

A very powerful post that I will watch again & think about for a while.

    • I did not mean to make your cry, but it shows that you are caring. I got teary eyed too. What we see in the movie is not fiction, it’s the live of many. You might not know that, but there is a category on my blog called “Losing it All”, 36 chapters so far, a book in the making, with a happy ending. The story about a time when my husband and I lost almost everything and how we made it through. A smashing comeback to society 🙂

It’s so easy to judge. It’s a wonderful thing to live a life with one that gets you and cares about you! Aren’t we lucky?

        • Oh, it’s not important. I write about it in installments anyway, you will get a feel for it. I am so glad we met.

I’m a very long way from knowing everything about music! I tried Home and liked it too. Looked them up and was surprised to see they had some minor hits here that I hadn’t heard of – I guess I’m no longer down with the kids 🤣

I haven’t used Spotify since Apple Music started. I get mine from there, plus YouTube recommendations – I’ve found a lot from those.
