I wish you all could have seen my face and my smile when I opened your cards. The days before Christmas, when the mail arrived, were extra special, and I can’t thank you all enough.

Currently, my biggest challenge is promoting my book. If it weren’t for the charity organizations that will (could) benefit from my future book sales, then I would probably say, “Well, WTH, I wrote a book. I published it! Well done,” and pat myself on one of my shoulders and forget all about it.

First, I bought a new microphone, because, of course, I will narrate my own book. Everybody is doing it, right? Well, turns out I am not everybody. I sound terrible, and it’s not just my accent.

Last year, we received four Christmas cards, and two of them were commercial advertisements. I miss getting letters and cards in the mail. Nowadays, our mailbox is full of flyers and promotions, as well as chain letters, for millions of valued customers like us (who aren’t valued at all). It stinks!

I chose December 6th, Saint Nicholas Day, for my book launch, because it’s a special day for me. An homage to my childhood and my roots. A day so full of special memories. It couldn’t be more perfect.
Scott’s post touched my heart, and it also gave me a heavy dose of keep it real. I fell in love with writing while blogging. Now it’s no longer a love affair, but a real hobby, something I do for my entertainment.

That’s the only principle I live by, to be unapologetic myself. To be me and to allow myself to be me, even if it makes me feel uncomfortable at times.

Somehow, not sure how it happened, I ended up writing a book. I thought the hardest part was over when I finished the final chapter and the epilogue, but I was wrong. Along came the editing process—a special kind of nightmare and so much tougher than I thought it would be.
