I haven’t answered friends’ emails in a couple of days. My friends are scattered all over the globe, and many of them sent me a note more or less saying the same “Finally, America is coming to its senses.” Their reactions and their messages to me are a form of celebration for the United States, for the country we all remember so well.

I liked the quote when I heard it for the first time when we watched the movie. Now it’s printed and hanging in my workroom. A simple, everyday reminder that I should not give up hope.
John Oliver’s show “Last week tonight” is one of my guilty pleasures. I wish his show would be accessible to everyone and a local TV station would broadcast it instead of HBO, but then I suppose that’s not possible, because we don’t curse on local TV on prime time, we prefer to “bleep” the obvious.
