Thousands and thousands of people are on the streets in London, demanding a second vote on Brexit -the exit of the European Union. In the last vote, they got it wrong too.
Britain is scheduled to leave the European Union in March 2019. So far all Brexit negotiations have been a mess.
320,000 people signed a petition:
“We have watched the chaos unfold in cabinet and the turmoil in negotiations with dismay and foreboding. None of us voted for a bad deal or no deal that would wreck our economy. Nor do we accept that either is inevitable. If the Brexit deal is rejected by Parliament, then we, the people of Britain, should have the democratic right to determine our own future. That is why we are demanding a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.”
Elections have consequences! Every vote counts. I hope we have finally learned from our mistakes, but I fear many will still not understand what a privilege the right to vote actually is.
The wrong result of an election can change the future of generations to come, and mostly, it’s not for the better.
Bollocks, she says and Bollocks it is! I couldn’t agree more. The European Union is in favor of a second Brexit vote. Now it’s up to Great Brittain and Theresa May, who doesn’t want a second public vote.
The people are marching for the people’s vote. I hope they get it but deep down I know better.
Consequences have to be lived through I fear and I hate it because we here in the U.S. are living our own nightmare right now.
There is no fast awakening from this nightmare. May we all learn from this!

My 2 cents two years ago!
Unfortunately, it is harder and harder these days to be a really informed voter. This is just another reason I miss the Voter Info Pamphlets I used to receive in California. These purported to provide objective evaluations of the potential consequences of a yea or nay vote on measures of this sort. Having those materials available to consider made it so much easier to tune out most of the rest of the clearly partisan messages we are constantly bombarded with. I have come to appreciate this official effort, no matter the cost to the State, more and more over the eleven years since we moved away. Imagine my shock upon discovering that no such objective (written) info seems to be available for voters in the next county over from me to help them decide if they want to approve (or not) a $50 wheel tax to improve their schools. Again, so sad.
I’m not only concerned that people won’t vote, perhaps out of a sense of total disillusionment, but also the very upsetting reports of voter suppression in several of the states. Alarm bells are ringing and I feel anxiety every time I think about it.
I think many of us feel the same anxiety. I fear that THEY will find a way to manipulate the outcome again. To be honest, I fear for the worst.
Sadly, I do as well. 🙁
The people who voted for Brexit had no idea, at the time, of what it would entail. No relationship is perfect. One must take the good with the bad. Divorce causes pain to all parties involved.
And some wed again 🙂
I fear your deep down feelings may prove to be right Bridget, we will not get a confirming vote. It is very much a case of “be careful what you wish for.” Both the UK, and US are now living with the consequences of their, to my mind, stupid voting choices.
Sigh -May we both be wrong!
