Dear Mr. and Mrs. Politician…

Dear Politician(s),

Today I got lucky and can write to you and for the first time you will be able to understand what I am trying to say since years. Thanks to the daily prompt, today you guys will be not illiterate, because that’s what you are right? I mean you guys can’t read or write correct? I mean this has to be it, it’s the only logical explanation I can come up with. That, or you communicate in a language that human being just can’t understand.

So, come closer and listen please, because today you will hear me:

“I HAD IT WITH YOU GUYS”

I just had it…I had it with ALL of you. Republicans or Democrats, Donkey or Elephant….I am fed up with each one of you. Neither one of you deserves my (our) vote and should have been re-elected. What happened to “We the people”? Correct, I talk about the Constitution “We the people…” and that includes ALL people. The poor and the rich, white or black, healthy or sick, female or male, religious or non-believer, straight or gay…all of us and we all should be equal. At least that was the general idea, wasn’t it?

I am tired of slogans and promises, I am tired of laws protecting the rich and harming the poor, I am tired of milking the middle class and I am tired of school shootings. I am tired of spending money in other countries and not caring if our own children have to go to bed hungry. I am tired of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. I am tired of hate and racism. I am tired of the blame game. I am tired of working hard, but not being able to catch up with the raising prices around me. I am tired of corruption and lies and of bi-partisan ship…and  I am tired of voting for the lesser evil, because neither one of you lives up to my standards and my believes anymore.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Read it…read it every day and try (yes try) to understand it. “General Welfare” would indeed include everybody, not just chosen ones.

Jail time and/or fine for a man, who is feeding the homeless >>>here<<< and >>>here<<< …that is insane. Has this world gone mad? Don’t we have other problems and lots of them?

  3. That is a terrific and entirely justified rant. I am glad M-R sent me here (though I have visited before) and i want to wish you the happiest birthday, though I think I’m a few days out.

    Also, as an American living out of the country who votes via absentee ballots, I’m sending a rousing “here here” for your written thoughts. I just read your About page, so know you are also an expatriate; I’m sure you understand the connection I feel to the US even though I call Norway home.

    And, I’ll be in your State soon — next week I’m traveling to Ottumwa to visit my Dad, brothers, family. So, virtual waves from 5000 miles away … and then much closer. 🙂

  8. Happy Birthday, nonsmokingladybug! And think how many more you’ll have because you are a nonsmokingladybug. I so agree with every word you’ve written above about our politicians. Scoundrels, all! I am an ex-smoker too….puffed away for 30-plus years. Hardest thing I ever did was to give it up and am sooo happy I finally did. Again, Happy Birthday.

    Secondly although I am not an American I can agree with your sentiments. I think the entire western world is fed up with our politicians, and the third world is more than fed up with their corrupt ones. And thirdly as an ex-smoker ( quit in 2005) good luck with the quit smoking campaign. I must say that the Australian adverts (the one I have seen) would definitely make me stop if I hadn’t already!! Ask M-R about them.
