Some of you may not remember the old-time Jewish comedians: Shecky Green, Red Buttons, Totie Fields, Milton Berle, Henny Youngman, and many others.
I got to know them when I came here and some of them helped me to learn English with a laughter. I miss this kind of humor today.
I chose the name “The Happy Quitter” because it was totally against my nature. I was brought up to never quit anything. “You start it, you finish it” that’s what I heard when I was a child and I lived by it. I started numerous projects in my life with the lack of any talent for it. Painting would be an example of total failure…at least to my standards.
Nicotine addicts aka smokers can get a lot of help these days. There are numerous free webpages available with lots of information, tips and tricks on how to quit smoking. Books, videos and pamphlets are available for free, to everybody who is serious about quitting. Almost every country offers free government pages and help as well, you would think we covered all the bases.
I listened to all of them and I was just in awe. The stories they shared touched my heart, left me speechless and I admired so many of them. They stood in front of the microphone and shared their darkest moments with all of us.
Lately, I seem to have encounters with people who have never heard of common sense, so it’s time to publish the following obituary. It was printed in the London times a few years back.

An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard.

Ole and Lena went to the same Lutheran Church. Lena went every Sunday and taught Sunday School. Ole went on Christmas and Easter, and maybe a few times during the year.
One Sunday, Ole was sitting in the pew right behind Lena and got to noticing what a fine looking woman she was.
