Last week, I teared up when a comment left on my Finally-2024 post surprised me. Lately, I have been wondering if I should continue blogging. Is it worth it, and what have I accomplished with it?

Little pieces of wisdom and small treasures, archived neatly beside utterly nonsense and total flops. Some days I am brilliant, just to disappoint the next day. Yep, that’s me. A living contradiction, a breathing oxymoron. I never looked in my blogging archive before. Did I write all of this?

My husband put his cigarettes away, one day before his birthday, five years ago. He didn’t say he would quit smoking, instead he informed all of us around him, that he would take ‘An indefinite break.’ Two years after I quit, he finally had enough confidence to try it himself. His quitting process was hard to watch and so different from mine. He willed himself through the first weeks. I often found him sitting outside, face-palm waiting for a craving to go away.

A Stork, probably blinded by ice and snow flying through the European Alps without a GPS system, finally dropped me at the house of my parents 56 years ago.

Update – After numerous tests and an assortment of x-rays, we have a verdict, so it seems. My husband has a broken rib. While it can occur with heavy coughing, it more likely happened at his workplace, when he stopped a free rolling, heavy cart with his chest, that somebody had left unattended.

We both have been sick for weeks -three weeks to be exact. We both had a cold that just lingered a bit longer than usual. I could hear my husband cough in his sleep and he said the same about me the next morning. We both finally took time off work, that’s something we rarely do.

Finally, my computer is back up and running. No more typing with tiny buttons on phone or tablet. Looking at a screen without reading glasses feels so much better.
I reinstalled my old calendar program and today in the morning an anniversary firework popped up. As usual, I would have forgotten, but today is my 4-year quit- anniversary. Smoke-free for 4 years and $8.760 saved, which I just can’t find.

Well, just in case you haven’t noticed, I am back. Almost four weeks without blogging did wonders for me. I missed the writing as much as missed reading other blogs. I missed the communication with my online friends.
