A Stork, probably blinded by ice and snow flying through the European Alps without a GPS system, finally dropped me at the house of my parents 56 years ago.

My husband is back home. He got released from the hospital 36 hrs after surgery. Finally, the long wait is over. Fourteen months after his accident, he had reversed shoulder replacement surgery – and all went well.

Last year around this time I was moping around. I missed my best friend, reminisced about her and the good times we had. I thought about other good friends I had lost and all the ones we had left behind when we moved out of state.
I wanted to reach out to the city and the people. I was ready for a girl’s night out, or just some female companionship. I wanted to meet people other than neighbors and people we work for -or with.

“Do you want me to bring anything?” I asked my friend before I stepped outside. I was on my way to her house, expected her to tell me to bring a nice bottle of something red.
“Yes,” she said, “Bring your tools.”

Often she brings home a pizza from the little Italian café at the corner.
She turns on the music, listens to Dean Martin and opens a bottle of wine.

Much has been said and written about the fist 100 days of Donald Trump in the White House, but hardly anybody talks about all the real positive changes that have occurred. I honestly can say this has changed many aspects of my life.

Starting a women meetup group for active ladies over 50, was my attempt to reach out in the city where I live and now -not even five months later- we are 112 members. What a fun group of women we are!
