Our 50+ Ladies Meetup group has stepped it up. We are not just a wine-and-dine group anymore. By the end of last year, we started some outdoorsy activities, and I was surprised by the number of ladies who showed up.

If you have a Meetup group with a bunch of women over 50+, not all of them are happily married or in a relationship. At a wine tasting last summer, the subject DATING came up and the stories and anecdotes the ladies shared with us, had us roaring with laughter. (Also, it made me hug my husband tight when I came home.)

Last year around this time I was moping around. I missed my best friend, reminisced about her and the good times we had. I thought about other good friends I had lost and all the ones we had left behind when we moved out of state.
I wanted to reach out to the city and the people. I was ready for a girl’s night out, or just some female companionship. I wanted to meet people other than neighbors and people we work for -or with.

As you all know, I love my meetup group and have a splendid time meeting women close to my own age but one thing was bothering me, and I didn’t really know how to address the issue.

Starting a women meetup group for active ladies over 50, was my attempt to reach out in the city where I live and now -not even five months later- we are 112 members. What a fun group of women we are!

Last week has been hectic and eventful. There was Thanksgiving -Friendsgiving in our home- and then there was the first meeting of my Fabulous 50+ Women’s meetup group.

“Where do you live and what do you like about your city?” was one of the questions I have been asked here on my blog, and my honest reply surprised me a little bit. “I live in Columbus, Ohio and I don’t like it here at all.”
