Secretly, I was wondering when -and if people- would finally wake up. Part of me has now almost accepted the right-wing move all over the world because it seems so many people are fine with it, or they just don’t know -or remember- what it means, and what a catastrophic impact and effects it can have -and will have- on our lives.
I was born 4,500 miles away in a small village in the Alps. One foot one the Italian side, the other on the Austrian side my Grandma always joked. Last night did not bring the dramatic shift I hoped for, but the Democrats took back the house and now they will provide the new house speaker. Nancy Pelosi (78) has said she will run for speaker again, but after 16 years at the top, I think it’s time for some changes.

As you all know, I love my meetup group and have a splendid time meeting women close to my own age but one thing was bothering me, and I didn’t really know how to address the issue.
“Women can be anything they want to be,” my Grandmother told me when I was just a little girl, and it was quite a statement back in the 70’s. ANYTHING meant there was no limit. I could become an astronaut or a fireman; I could play soccer for a living or be a famous mountain climber, perhaps even lead a nation.
A very good friend of mine lives in the South -that’s where we met years ago- and I know as a fact that she voted and believes in Donald Trump. She is a diehard conservative, and over the years we were able to block it out. We didn’t talk about politics at all, it was the elephant in the room, that we never mentioned.
The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave! This beautiful country of diversity and opportunity. May I please have it back?
Louis Amstrong was right when he sang, “What a wonderful world.” This world is a great place and we, the ones who are occupying this beautiful planet, we are blessed with being different. How boring would it be if we would all be the same?
