When I finally understood the English lyrics and realized the depth of this song for the first time, I cried. Not loud, but quiet tears were running down my face. I was in my late 20s then and already lived in America.

The Military in Afghanistan outnumbers the Taliban 6:1. They have been trained for several years, yet they are not willing to fight for their freedom and for the rights of their wives and daughters. We have to accept that. The way it looks to me, they welcomed the Taliban without fighting. Almost like they are happy to get their country back.
A competitor is better than me. I am not sure how it happened, but all of a sudden he attracts the customers and while I am still busy -he is busier.
I don’t like the situation, wish I could do better, but it seems I am at my limit.

So Trump has won the election, but can’t prove it because the evidence shows otherwise. Nevertheless, he filed one lawsuit after the next -because the name of the game is denial and he plays it well for decades. It keeps his fanatic fans and followers busy hoping and dreaming of a time when democracy will be dead once and for all and a new area of everlasting Republican Plutocracy will transport the wealthy 1% of our population straight into paradise.
Yesterday in the afternoon the phone rang. I answered, as usual having my phone on the phone stand on speaker, so I can continue typing, working, or playing, while talking to whoever is on the other line at the same time. Multitasking, a task I should have given up years ago.
A gentlemen round around my age -give or take a few years- wanted to know if I could help him, he had an odd request. Don’t they all?

I am always surrounded by women. Most of them are my customers, my students, my friends and neighbors. The last months I have met more women than ever before. I had dipped my toes into charity work, and it turns out to be as infectious as they had warned me about.
