Rap, the one music style I never liked and never listened too, today I took my time and listened to the rapper Eminem for the first time.  I am not too old to be open-minded; art comes in many forms and ways, some of them I might not understand.

The Food was marvelous

As you all know, I love my meetup group and have a splendid time meeting women close to my own age but one thing was bothering me, and I didn’t really know how to address the issue.

We had dragged our husbands to the movie theater to watch the remake of the movie “Titanic” with Leanardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. We were sitting there with great anticipation. The lights went out and right then, in that moment of silence a guy said loud, “Oh boy, I can’t wait to see how it ends.”

When I was a little girl, I was sitting in our old apple tree. There, high up in the branches, hidden from the world I felt safe and my little world was at peace.

“I think I need to tell you that I am getting older,” he said, almost as he would ask for my permission.

“I noticed,” I looked at him and smiled.

“I just thought I needed to let you know.”

“I am glad you did and it’s fine with me. I am getting older too.”

“I haven’t noticed,” he said and it made me smile even more.

We lived in the South for a few years and I remember very well how it made me feel when we moved there. People were so friendly and so sweet. Overnight I had become everybody’s Darling, they all greeted me in the exact same way; “Hey Darlin’ what can I get you?”

Sooner or later there comes a day when we realize that we are mortal. One day we will be gone. “Game over” and I think it frightens us at first.
