As if all muscles were immersed in acid. Like the moment when you step into the void on a staircase in the dark, like a fall into the depths, only inside. Like tiredness that soaks the air. Like “Run!”, but you don’t know where to go, there’s nothing you could or want to run to, and besides, you’re too weak for that. Like a deep moan between the hectic breaths, like a need to sit down now that doesn’t stop, even if you’ve been sitting down for a long time.

They are like two peas in a pod. Siblings, not by blood or breed, but by fortune. We, the humans living with them under the same roof are actually the fortunate ones. Our adopted fury babies ended up in the right house and we are grateful.

According to our dog Vader, fireflies must be extra yummy, but getting them is tricky business. You can only hunt them in the evening and then they force a dog to stand still in the grass and wait for them until they give away directions with their light.

On my daily search for a good morning laugh, I often instead find a smile that warms my heart and lingers for hours. The beggar man and the mighty king are only different in name,
For they are treated just the same by fate.

Today a smile and tomorrow tears,
We’re never sure what’s in store,
So learn your lesson before too late,

Cause life is sweet, tender and complete
When you find the bluebird of happiness.

I feel his breath on my neck
A quick kiss, then a deep sigh
Letting me know that he is happy

It was a Michael Jackson concert, somewhere in Europe in the 80s, and the people around me went wild. They danced, they screamed, and they let go of whatever they had bottled up inside. Yet, I couldn’t.

I enjoyed the concert. I clapped, I sang, and I moved to the music, but I never let loose.

Every morning I come online and ask the internet to entertain me. I am not looking for wisdom or drama. I don’t want to be educated, informed, or manipulated, I simply want five minutes of giggles and bellylaugh. What started as a quest to forget about all the negativity around me, has become now a treasured morning routine.

I had already checked out, my friend -as usual- took her time, she was not even near the register. I had time to kill, and I sat down on the bench close to the checkout and watched the people around me. I am in no hurry on Saturdays, I can piddle around as I please.
