Who in the world would ring the door bell at 6 am Sunday in the morning,” I wondered and got out of bed.

I moved into my Grandmothers farmhouse when I was six years old. I arrived at her doorsteps with a small suitcase, a bag of toys, and all the other valuable belongings a young girl possess.

The smell of fresh baked cookies was hanging in the air. We were playing outside, we could smell it from a mile away and it drove us crazy. I don’t think there is anything more tempting to a child than a warm, fresh-baked cookie.

Once upon a time there was a girl who lived in a faraway land, where everything seemed impossible. She watched others play and laugh, while she was hiding in her room crying.

My Grandmother and I had THE TALK shortly after my 16 birthday. It was the talk, where she tried to explain to me what being an adult and being a woman meant. I tried to explain to her that I knew it all -or almost all- but she didn’t listen. She made me sit down and then she started talking and I listened.
