Out of boredom, waiting for glue to dry so I could stain a repaired tray, I turned on the TV to watch part of the Oscar spectacle around 9:30 pm Sunday night. I haven’t watched the Hollywood spectacle for years and I quickly regret my decision to tune in.

Afghanistan updates: US Embassy says to avoid airport because it's taking fire – Illinois News Now

The Military in Afghanistan outnumbers the Taliban 6:1. They have been trained for several years, yet they are not willing to fight for their freedom and for the rights of their wives and daughters. We have to accept that. The way it looks to me, they welcomed the Taliban without fighting. Almost like they are happy to get their country back.

LOVE & PEACE: Life WITHOUT Internet Connection.

Oh, my dear internet! Thank you for making my life easier! Telephone books, street maps, encyclopedias, DVDs, and postcards have disappeared. Gone are the days when a TV station asked me to sit in front of the television at 8 p.m. sharp, now I am getting fed the news by headlines faster than I can digest them. Gone are the times when program makers teased me about having to wait a week for my favorite series to continue. Today I decide what, when and where I watch. With the help of my phone, or tablet I could even binge-watch sitting on our storage shed – just in case I ever feel like it.

Yesterday I had an unexpected reaction to a blog post. An older man, in his 60′ or 70’s had written a post about Bras. It’s wasn’t a funny post. He wasn’t sharing his lifelong KNOW-HOW on how to open a bra with one hand, or a story about all the bras he might have had the pleasure of meeting in his lifetime.

No, it was a dry post about how to correctly measure a bra, how to wear it and some other guidelines for women, who might be new in the ‘bra’ business and/or are on the lookout for some guidance ala Oprah.

Where Do Our Sexual Preferences Come From, And How Flexible Are They? : Invisibilia : NPR

About ten, fifteen years ago, at a BBQ with lots of food and some alcohol, a friend of mine asked me if I would date -or sleep with a black man. I didn’t hesitate, answered quickly -and without thinking- “No, I would not date a black man or sleep with a black man.”

“I guess that means you are a racist,” he said and I didn’t know what to respond. My brain didn’t comprehend -neither did I. I had stepped into a trap and now I was stuck.

“They are right up my alley,” I said, softly swinging from one side to the other in my chair. Shoulder rolling, half-closed eyes, and all the other things this kind of music makes me do. “They have the groove,” I said and my husband laughed.

Hillary Clinton said the following in 2016, which many believed labeling some of the Trump supporters as deplorables, cost her the win. Personally, I thought this part of her speech was arrogant and highly stupid -but not untrue:

Nurse makes a shot vaccination Painting by Valeriy Kachaev

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.” —Albert Einstein

If I put forth a single vaccine question
About a jab that’s whipped up in a flash,
And ponder on my shot-or-not position,
Why should my reputation hit the trash?
