Good grief, did I just say the “S” word? Socialism?
Sitting here on my desk, I assume lightning will strike me any moment -or perhaps I mixed things up -again -and enlightenment will punch me in the face instead. (Don’t you write about socialism, don’t you do it!)
The Iowa caucus will be held today. The Democratic Party members will meet at a public place, and discuss the candidates and general issues. Instead of using voting booths, they stand together in groups, supporting different candidates. It’s more of a neighborhood meeting, a gettogether between friends and neighbors.
I wish I could make people sit down and listen to this. I am not sure if it would do any good, it seems you can’t reach people on the other side anymore.
I am a woman and I should be very excited, but I feel so conflicted.
I was hoping it would be Bernie Sanders. Now I am more scared than ever that Mr. Trump -if he indeed will be the Republican nominee- will become the next President of the United States of America.
I remember the time when we got our first TV in the 70’s. It was a showcase, a decoration piece in our living room; we only turned it on in the evenings. There weren’t too many channels back then, we had ORF I and II, the Austrian TV stations, we could get the German channels ZDF and ARD on clear days and we watched Rai the Italian TV station.
“I am going to sit this one out,” that’s a line I have heard often lately. Some of our friends are republicans, but they will not vote for Donald Trump if he indeed will be the republican nominee -and it very much looks like it.
I would have never thought that would ever give a republican a standing ovation in my workroom, but I did. I did today, just a while ago.
Well, I work standing anyway, so it was maybe not a standing ovation, rather than just a heartfelt round of applause.
