Every time I read another article about voter restrictions a shiver runs down my spine. I do wonder when I will fall under the restrictions? When I am old and fragile? When I no longer stand with ease? When I have the wrong friends, or belong to the wrong party? When I am still just a woman? When I have the wrong color, or freckles might be outlawed. When I am retired, or too young to die?
Voices shouting, protesting, demanding to stop the count, fearing it might not go their way. What country you asked?
Please, don’t! It’s too embarrassing to admit. It does sound a bit like South America, or perhaps Eastern Europe in the 80’s, when most of them were still dancing to the music of Russia.
Don’t ever underestimate a Grandma. I know that better than anybody. I couldn’t help watching this and thinking about the woman who took me in and raised me when she was 69 years old. My Grandma, my teacher!
He is a nice, older gentleman. He comes from a small town in the midwest, where he and his siblings were raised by a single mom. He knows poverty, has lived it and doesn’t like how it made him feel.
It’s hard to watch TV these days, negative campaign adds left and right! How much nicer it would be if the candidates would just tell us what they stand for. “Hello…introduce yourself! I am your audience and a potential voter. Give up the smear campaigns, it gets you nowhere -at least not in my house.”
I am angry. Very very angry.
Like the rest of the nation, I am watching the Kavanaugh hearing, and I can only do it in small dosages to prevent my head from exploding.
This is not the first election in my lifetime that didn’t end the way I wished for, but it is the first election that left me feeling scared.
“I am going to sit this one out,” that’s a line I have heard often lately. Some of our friends are republicans, but they will not vote for Donald Trump if he indeed will be the republican nominee -and it very much looks like it.
