Somebody sent me a very long email with lots of questions. “What is your trick”, “how did you do it” and “how does it feel to give up smoking” and more questions like that.
If you have ever watched “The Shawshank Redemption” then you watched Andy Dufresne’s escape from prison. That’s how I felt at the beginning, I felt like Tim Robins in the movie.
We were sitting in the living room watching TV and all of a sudden I smelled something. It smelled good, a mix of fragrances that I could not identify. I was holding my nose in the air, trying to find the source of the smell.
I told my husband “something smells so good” and he just looked at me “OK, what is it”.
“Well, I don’t know, but it’s yummy”.
So, is this what I will have to do from now on? Sitting there, talking about my life, looking at my past like Meryl Streep in the movie Defending your life and being judged by hmmm, well by whom?
The young couple had just gotten married. One day the young woman wanted to cook a special dish and decided to roast a leg of lamb.
She took a knife and cut the bottom piece off the leg and arranged the two pieces side by side in the big casserole dish and put it in the oven.
The French President, is sitting in his office when his telephone rings. “Hello, Mr. President!” a heavily accented voice said. “This is Paddy down at the Harp Pub in County Mayo, Ireland. I am ringing you to inform you that we are officially declaring war on you and your country.”
I remember the time before my 40’s birthday…the big “4” had me thinking for a while. I didn’t really care for the “over-the-hill” felling at all. How could I be already 40 if I still feel like 20? Well, turning 40 is a milestone, but although gives you a taste of how you will feel when you turn 50.
Reading the new posts of blogs I follow became my new guilty pleasure. Every morning I bring my cup of coffee to my desk, turn on my computer, and start reading. A good cup of coffee and a good read – what a wonderful start to a new day. And there it was….my nomination for the Very inspiring blog award, I almost spit my coffee all over the place. “Holly Molly,” what do I have to do?
As I began to love myself, I found that anguish and emotional suffering are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth.
Today, I know, this is “AUTHENTICITY“.
It touched my soul, it hit home…it is me, I am one of you…We are one!

The longest day of the year is still special to me…
Today’s Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year (in the Northern Hemisphere). How are you taking advantage of the extra hours of light this time of year? Do you like it, or do you already miss earlier sunsets?
I was born and raised in Europe, and the celebration of the longest day of the year was always a big spectacle. The planning of that special night of midsummer went on for days, and everybody, young and old, was involved.
