The Old Mule in the Well
This parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell into the farmer’s well. The farmer heard the mule ‘praying’ …or whatever mules do when they fall into wells. After carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that neither mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving.
It is usual for people to make a 6 months “speech” of a sort, at least that’s what they did on the quittrain, but I am not there anymore, so who would listen to my speech? I am not a really a talented writer –in case you haven’t noticed- but I like to “tell” stories.
So let me tell you a story on my 6 months quit-anniversary and since it’s a special anniversary, how about a true story?

We were sitting in the living room watching TV and all of a sudden I smelled something. It smelled good, a mix of fragrances that I could not identify. I was holding my nose in the air, trying to find the source of the smell.
I told my husband “something smells so good” and he just looked at me “OK, what is it”.
“Well, I don’t know, but it’s yummy”.
“But e-cigarettes are so harmless” that’s what I hear all the time “it’s so much better than smoking, it’s a great alternative”. I got numerous emails telling me that my outlook on e-cigarettes might be wrong, or just too harsh.
Really?
Tobacco companies call them “replacement smokers” parents call them their children.
Laws limited the advertising of tobacco products in mass media, so Fred and Barney couldn’t sell cigarettes to kids anymore…right?
Wrong!
