“What a cute commercial! Look Mom, the kids got a puppy for Christmas.”
Every year I see a commercial like that on TV and every year I flinch. I flinch, because it’s the time of the year again, when many children ask for a puppy for Christmas and I don’t blame them.
We have a little park that belongs to the small subdivision where we live and yesterday was the last “Music in the park” for this year.
Just the plain sight of the vacuum cleaner, throws our older dogs into despair and panic mood and each and every time I try to clean our living room floor, we go through the same procedure.
They stop whatever they are doing and act like their life would be in immediate danger. No other machine in, or around the house causes so much panic, not even the lawn mower or the yard blower.
A woman was flying from Melbourne to Brisbane. Unexpectedly, the plane was diverted to Sydney.
The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft the plane would re-board in 50 minutes.
A friend gave me the book “Eat, Pray, Love” and I wasn’t too thrilled about it. I had listened to a few interviews about the book and didn’t really understand what all the fuzz was about.
Our not so little puppy Patches had her 4 month birthday yesterday. She weighs already 25 pounds and gets more and more black spots. Many are still under the fur on her skin and just shine through, others pop up over night.
If you ever worked with rescue dogs, then you will know that they are doing hard work. Searching for survivors after disasters like 9/11, that’s what they are trained for. Their goal is to find as many as possible, it’s a race against time. Then, when they can’t find any more survivors, that’s when they continue to search for the remains of victims. It’s hard on them and on their handlers and owners, you can see it in their eyes.
It is Frisbee Wednesday again at Serendipity’s blog and I will use this post today, to give you all an update on our newest, four legged family member -our rescue puppy that we named “Patches”.
I don’t know what shocked me more, the questions or the fact that the year will be over soon. Time flies.
