Donald Trump insists that President Obama and of course Hillary Clinton are alone to blame for the war in Syria and the uprising of ISIS. His supporters, of course, believe him, they are busy hating, they don’t have time for facts, they don’t seem to have the time for research, even when it’s right at their fingertips.

EU2

I watched the news today in disbelieve. The votes had been counted when I was sleeping and the results were in. Great Britain will leave the European Union (EU) and in my opinion, that means that the youth in Great Britan got screwed; they wanted to stay in the EU and they should have, it’s their future after all.

I was born in the alps in a small village, between Austria and Italy and the Adriatic Sea, even though it was only a 3-hour drive, seemed to be a million miles away from our farm. I had seen pictures and I couldn’t wait to see it real. Finally, we drove down toward Venice and I stood on the beach and looked at the ocean. As much as I loved the mountains, I felt drawn to the sea as well; I loved the water.

je suis bruxelles 2

Another cowardly attack in Europe, this time in the center of the European Union in Brussels. Once again my heart is saddened and my European soul is crying.

If you look at the world map, you will see that Europe is rather small. I grew up 10 minutes away from the Italian border, could drive to Germany in about 2 hours and Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Czech Republic, and Hungary were just a few hundred kilometers away. Different cultures, different languages, and different looks lived just around the corner and were rather appealing to me; it never scared me.

Finally, I am famous…that was about time. A non-existing dream came true, thanks to the daily-rerun.

My life started between Austria and Italy in Europe, then I married young and moved to the US, started my career and traveled the world. I would write my own biography, with my own words, in my own distinctive style with lack of grammar and punctuation, sprinkled with humor, sarcasm and occasional wisdom.

…or should I say in the “bad old days”, way back then in 1550. Here are some interesting facts:

Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May and were still smelling pretty good by June.

However, they were starting to smell, so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the B.O.

Daily prompt

What’s the best (or rather, worst) backhanded compliment you’ve ever received?

“Well, not too bad for a woman” whenever I hear that, I just flinch inside, shake my head in disbelieve and roll my eyes in lightning speed.
