Dave Barry's Year in Review 2020 - The Washington Post

On the last day of 2020, I would like to share part of my life on my blog. 2020 has not been bad for me -far from it. I made interesting discoveries and my workrooms were messier than ever. I learned to sew face masks, made my husband my sewing apprentice, and before we knew what hit us we were were sewing, selling, and donating masks left and right. I started to collect bras.

How to Put the Mask On

1. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (or alcohol-based sanitizer). Dry your hands with a clean paper towel and throw the paper towel away.

2. Make sure the exterior side of the mask is facing out, away from your face.

The dead, the sick were so far away. Many of them in cities I once worked in or studied at, when I was young. I knew the threat was real, and so I stayed home like most of us did.

What is your earliest memory?

My earliest memory is lots of screaming and yelling, fear and bad smells. It’s not one particular memory, but a blur of many. Both of my parents were violent alcoholics and unfit parents and I spend the first six years of my life with them.
