It’s way too late already. I just got up, slept in a bit, like I normally do on Sundays, yet it’s later than usual. Another spring-forward time change, which I believe somebody made up just to annoy me.

The human race had to deal with epidemics and infectious diseases in the past.
THE BLACK DEATH (1346-1353) Death Toll: 75 – 200 million
CHOLERA PANDEMIC (1852–1860) Death Toll: 1 million
FLU PANDEMIC (1918) Death Toll: 20 -50 million
ASIAN FLU (1956-1958) Death Toll: 2 million
The German International Broadcast company “DW” (Deutsche Welle/German Wave) made a hell of a documentary, which most of us will never see. And why would we? The truth stings a bit, it has the tendency to shed light on secrets we don’t want to have to deal with.

I have been somewhat quiet on my blog lately, questioned the sense behind it all. Blogging takes time -time that I am not sure, if I am still willing to give. Real life is waiting behind the screen, and it’s pulling me in different directions.
I lost a friend, a very good friend; just heard about it before Christmas. No, let me rephrase this. I lost one of my best friends, she died and I didn’t even know about it. I didn’t know about it, because we weren’t talking.
I am happily married to 98% of the time. I love my husband dearly, he is my best friend and the nail to my coffin :-). However, there are days, when I want to whack him the frying pan and I assume he feels the same way. There are days, when we seem to talk two different languages. It took me 30+ years of marriage, but I finally found the answer:
Dear young one,
It’s me, your older –much older- self and that’s good news, because as of today, you will at least live to be 51. So stay in shape, you have a long road ahead of you.
My husband is my best friend, my soul mate, the nail to my coffin. 🙂
I could write about him for hours, but I know he wouldn’t like it. He doesn’t like to be the center of attention. He is introvert and he enjoys watching the extroverts and what he sees makes him smile. So I won’t write much about him, only that he gets me, that we get each other.
I wouldn’t want to see the future. Not my own and not the one of others. What, if I would take a look and the people I love wouldn’t be in it anymore? What, if I would see the future and it would be bad for me, for the ones I love or for all of us? That I would fear more than anything. For me it’s important to keep the hope up. Hope and optimism is part of my nature. If I would be able to glance into the future, I wouldn’t have a reason to hope anymore.
