Just the plain sight of the vacuum cleaner, throws our older dogs into despair and panic mood and each and every time I try to clean our living room floor, we go through the same procedure.
They stop whatever they are doing and act like their life would be in immediate danger. No other machine in, or around the house causes so much panic, not even the lawn mower or the yard blower.
My friend Joanne wrote a must-read post about refugees and forced me to re-blog 🙂
I have a secret love affair with a man, ever since I was a child. It’s strictly platonic and very one-sided. He never knew me, but I know almost everything about him.
“Hate” can be found on every corner these days, often accompanied by fear; it seems these two go hand in hand. Fear of the unknown, hate toward a stranger. “He can’t have what is mine”, like we all would be still sitting in a big sandbox building sand castles. “Don’t touch me,” “Don’t invade my space.” We do sound like children, what are we scared off?
If you look at the world map, you will see that Europe is rather small. I grew up 10 minutes away from the Italian border, could drive to Germany in about 2 hours and Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Czech Republic, and Hungary were just a few hundred kilometers away. Different cultures, different languages, and different looks lived just around the corner and were rather appealing to me; it never scared me.
I remember it very well. The year was 1975 and I was sitting in school and listened to our history professor. The new school year had just begun; we all had spent summer time with our families, either in Italy, Austria or Germany and now we were back to school.
Joanne at My life lived full, had a beautiful post yesterday. I started thinking about it and thought about the other friends I have made here in the blogging world. Wouldn’t it be great to get to know each other better. Maybe it’s just me and I am the only “nosy Rosy”.
Nope, I didn’t forget and I like it. I find the whole “Forgive and Forget thing” absolutely nonsense. I am not a computer, I can’t just press “delete” and voila, the memory is gone. It’s like being on a jury when you listen to a testimony, then the prosecution objects and you are asked to forget what you just heard. Really?
Extremism is at its height at the moment, to deny that is to put one’s head in the sand. There is no place for hate based upon religion, culture, race , ethnicity or sexuality and it should not be tolerated. The lesson from all this cannot be that we have to watch what we say. I’d like to see every paper/magazine in the free world reprint the same cartoon that supposedly invoked this “vengeance” to show support and strength…to show that we will not be intimidated.
